St Caesidius (31st August)
St Caesidus, the son of St Rufinus, accompanied his father in his flight from Amasia in Pontus (Asia Minor) to Trasocco (southern Italy) in the 3rd century. When St Rufinus moved on to Assisi, he left St Caesidius in charge of the church in Trasocco. (A church dedicated to SS Rufino e Cesidio still exists there).
St Caesidius was martyred with a number of other Christians in ca. 235 on the
shores of Lake Fucino in the reign of the Emperor Maximinus.
