Sacristy (1652-60)

The present sacristy was built against the external wall of the right hand apsidal chapel, which was then the Cappella di San Cesidio.  From ca. 1580 (when the new presbytery was built) until 1848, it was reached only by the corridor to the right of the church.  In 1848, when an opening was inserted into the presbytery wall, additional access was possible through the ex-Cappella di San Cesidio.

The ceiling decoration (1907) of the sacristy was restored in 2003.  It now houses some interesting 17th century paintings:

Cesare Sermei

St Francis blessing Assisi (1640)
This panel, in which St Francis blesses Assisi as he is taken from the Palazzo Vescovile to the Portiuncula to die, came from the Palazzo Vescovile in ca. 1685.

SS Rufinus, Caesidius and Rufinus d' Arce (17th century)
The panel of SS Rufinus, Caesidius and Rufinus d' Arce came from an unknown location in San Rufino.

Giacomo Giorgetti

Madonna and Child with St Antony (1664)
The panel in which the Madonna hands the Christ Child to St Antony of Padua came from the Altare di Sant Antonio di Padova, which was re-dedicated to St Emidius in 1751.
