SS Vincent and Benignus (6th June)
St Vincent seems to have been a disciple of St Emilianus, who appointed him as the first Bishop of Bevagna. He and his deacon, Benignus were martyred with St Emilianus in 303.
This legend was later absorbed into the Legend of the Twelve Syrians, according to which St Brictius ordained St Vincent (his nephew) as Bishop of Bevagna in ca. 363.
The relics were probably preserved on the site of San Vincenzo (12th century) in Bevagna, but this is now deconsecrated and ruined. They were moved to what is now the Abbazia di San Vincenzo at Furlo in the Marche at the time of the Lombard occupation, and seem subsequently to have found their way to Lucca. (This might have occurred in 878, when Adalberto of Tuscany seized the relics of three saints from Narni and took them to the church of San Frediano in Lucca). They were returned to Trevi only in 1703.
