Santa Restituta (ca. 1563 - 1604)

Paolo Orsini di Narni and Bishop Pierdonato Cesi (1546 - 66) invited Sister Eusebia Borghese to establish a convent of Poor Clares here dedicated to the Roman martyr, St Restituta (died 272).

The convent had run into financial difficulties by the early 17th century, until Paolo Emilio Cesi, Marquis of Riano left a substantial bequest to the community in 1610, following a request from Bishop Giambattista Tosca (1601 - 32).  This money was used (inter alia) for a new high altar.
