Cappella della Consolazione
(late 15th or early 16th century)
The Spaniard Pedro Gormaz, Bishop of Narni (1490-1515) built this chapel in the left aisle, which was used as the winter choir. It is named for the altarpiece (15th century) of the Madonna della Consolazione, which is in Byzantine style and is housed in a marble tabernacle.
The other interesting works of art in this chapel are:
the monument to Bishop Pedro Gormaz (ca. 1515) (on the left); and
the panel (15th century) of the Madonna and Child with SS Peter, Paul, Juvenal and Cassius by a follower of Antoniazzo Romano (on the back wall).
