St Cassius (29th June)

St Cassius became Bishop of Narni in 537.

According to the "Dialogues of St Gregory", Totila despised St Cassius because his florid complexion made him look like a drunk.  However, when he expelled a demon that was tormenting one of Totila's guards, Totila revered him.  Thus he saved the city.

At some time after his death in 558, he was buried in the burial chapel that he had build for himself and his wife Faustina in the crypt of the oratory of San Giovenale.
